Board Shop Online Store
Inspired by memories from the 90s
At the end of the 1990s there was a place in my hometown which was the embodiment of the word cool. It was a surf store called simply the Board Shop. This was in the era of dial-up modems and high speed internet was in the realm of sci-fi. Back then it was common for local businesses to advertise by handing out leaflets in the streets.
The advertising material of the Board Shop stood out with impeccable quality of design and print. Everything about their leaflets and cards was great. This place disappeared from the map a long time ago, but for some reason memories of it surfaced recently. I thought it would be great to reimagine it in the digital era. I gave it another name, and made an online store design for it. So, here is The Crest - I hope you enjoy it.

Since the online store is expected to contain a lot of products of different categories, filtering options are of utmost importance. The store page relies on tabs with the three main types of products. These are followed by custom icons that represent the main subcategories. Last, but not least, we have an expandable toolbar with extended filters, ordering options, and product count. In between there are breadcrumbs for easier navigation and a search bar to serve as a time saver given the volume of information.

The product page has the mandatory gallery with preview area and thumbnails. The type hierarchy is evident, but with less contrast compared to other pages. A main feature is an expandable floating action button in high emphasis color to initiate the check out process.
